Montenegro Airlines is the national air carrier of Montenegro, founded on 24th October 1994. The first flight with the name of our company was completed on 7th May 1997 on the route Podgorica - Bari by aircraft type Fokker 28. After more than a year, precisely in July 1998 another Fokker 28 Mk 4000 was purchased, which created the conditions for further market connections.
The company is committed to fleet renewal since the year of 2000. Montenegro Airlines grew into modern airline by the acquisition of new aircraft type Fokker 100. The first Fokker 100 landed at Podgorica Airport in June 2000. The following was purchased in May, 2001. The third Fokker became a property of Montenegro Airlines in June 2002, while at the beginning of the year 2003 the fourth aircraft Fokker 100 arrived.
As the number of passengers was in continuous growth, year after year, there was need for acquisition of larger aircraft. In order to meet the challenges of the market and to keep pace with modern technologies in aviation, Montenegro Airlines began the process of fleet renewal on 23rd July 2007. Then the procurement contract for two aircraft type Embraer 195 was signed. This type of aircraft from generation of modern aircraft, the member of E-jets family is recognizable by its sophisticated and extraordinary performances. These aircraft are designed by E-principle, the most up-to-date engineering, superior ergonomics and outstanding effectiveness and efficiency. In that way we offered passengers the most effective, in technological terms, the most advanced and comfortable aircraft in the sky.
Today, Montenegro Airlines fleet consists of six modern airplanes, of which three are Embraer 195, two Fokker 100, and rented B 737-300.
Montenegro Airlines maintains scheduled year-round operations towards Paris, Frankfurt, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Zürich, Rome, Vienna and Moscow, and from April to October we fly to London, Copenhagen, Düsseldorf, Saint Petersburg and Lyon, thus successfully establishing air-bridge between Montenegro and Europe. In addition, in the pre-season and post-season period, we operate numerous charter flights to cities in Europe.
Since April 2000 Montenegro Airlines has become a full-fledged member of IATA (International Air Transport Association), which was a precondition for obtaining a license for regular air operations, while since 2003 Montenegro Airlines has become a user of the leading global reservation system (AMADEUS).
In the year of 2006, Montenegro Airlines for the first time, officially, received IOSA certificate- the most important, internationally recognized program which encompasses security, organizational and personnel standards in civil aviation focused at improving security and efficiency of aviation. Montenegro Airlines renewed this certificate six times until today, meeting the strictest 956 IOSA standards.
One step ahead in our business are surely code-share agreements that we have signed with renowned company such as: Air France, Austrian Airlines, Al Italia, S7 Airlines, Etihad Airways and Air Serbia.
Upon signing of these agreements, Montenegro Airlines achieved access to broad route networks that are operated by partner companies.
